Little Farmer

A is playing farmer again today. Well yesterday too. She isn't always inspired to get up early with me and take care of all the morning "farm" chores. But at least once a week or so she joins me. It's fantastic!

Today was A's first time witnessing first hand milking our goat, Beauty. Beauty's babies were just recently moved to their very own pen, separating hem form Mom so I can begin milking at least once a day. A was fascinated and excited by this.

"Now we can make cheese!! What else can we make??"

And so we had a long discussion about all of the various uses for fresh goat milk and milking procedures, and how to make all of the various items. Cheese, lotion, soap, etc.

So now the morning routine consists of:

1. feeding all the goats their morning rations of grain
2. rinsing and refilling all water buckets
3. setting out hay for both pens
4. some days mucking out old dity hay
5. milking Beauty while she eats her grains
6. refilling chicken waters and food for all three chicken broder cages
7. bringing older chicks outside to the grow out pen
8. bringing seedlings out from the sun porch to harden off
9. watering seedlings and the garden
10. Letting the dogs out

It's only 10 AM and we've already accomplished so much.

For the rest of the day?
A. adding more garden beds to the garden
B. transplanting more seedlings
C. exploring the field out back of our house and bringing back logs for the bucklings to play on
D. bringing manure to the garden
E. exploring a new website that we found DIY.org
